Fishing Still “Hot”
Summer may be over, but the good fishing is not! The offshore bite has been steady. Blue and white marlin have been caught offshore, along with yellowfin tuna and wahoo. The picture shows marina customer Blan Marriott with a nice wahoo that was caught September 17, 2016. Come take advantage of the blue water bite. And, if you prefer to fish closer in, red snapper season has been extended (again). See details below.
Red Snapper Season Extended Again!
The 2016 recreational fishing season for red snapper is open in Florida state waters (only) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in October and has been extended to select days in November. In November fishing for red snapper is open November 5 and 6 (Saturday and Sunday), November 11 and 12 (Friday and Saturday; Veterans’ Day Weekend) and November 25, 26 and 27 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday; Thanksgiving Weekend). November 26 (Saturday) also is a saltwater license-free fishing day in Florida; you can fish in saltwater without a license that day (only).
Florida state waters are from shore to 9 nautical miles in the Gulf. Complete information, including gear requirements, size and harvest limits, can be found at: http://myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/snappers
- Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show
The Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show is November 11 and 12 at NAS Pensacola. This final show of the year will feature high-flying performances on both Friday and Saturday, with a spectacular Friday night air show and fireworks display. This two-day event should be a “don’t miss” on your calendar. So, plan NOW to attend.
You can view most of the Air Show events from your boat by anchoring at Admirals Island (aka “Sand Island”) or at Fort McRee. Combine a great boat outing with lunch or dinner at Sunset Grille.
- Annual Dog Walk
The second annual Sunset Grille Dog Walk will be held November 19. See details below.
